Mother Nature Can't Make Up Her Mind

This month,  I really don't get Mother Nature & Her sense of humour. We woke up to SNOW this morning - predicted but honestly, not believed by most.
It's still too cold to be planting any seeds & I'm finding it tough having to wait to bring in my soil...
I'll have to update my Library List this coming week while we wait for the weather to warm up again.
Til then...

Spring Thaw

The rains have returned & finally melted all the snow.

The sunshine is warming the earth & bringing forth the first flush of spring blooms.

I'm craving the smell of fresh soil & hope this warming trend will continue in proper fashion.

In the next couple of weeks, I hope to complete the rest of the raised bed project by installing the vertical growing lattice panels & bringing in soil so that I can start to plant some seeds!

For now, I'll daily monitor the spring flowers that decided to regrow for me this year...

First of the Season

The snow is slowly starting to melt & I found my first crocus in the yard this afternoon!

Bringing in a Little Green

~ herbs in window sill ~
Finally got my car out of the driveway today & when I got to the grocery store, the sun was shining, the snow is melting & there were the first-of-the-season herbs on display!

Dolgo Crab Apple

We attended the Seedy Saturday this past weekend & the snow seems to have kept the number of people down a bit from last year. I highly recommend checking out these local events as there are so many opportunities to pick up locally grown plants or seeds & a great chance to speak with those who grow successfully in your area.

This year I needed to keep my purchases minimal as I need to continue to build the foundations of my garden beds with fresh soil & strong structural supports.

We did invest in a crab apple tree! We picked up a two year old, bare root Dolgo crab apple. The poor thing is now potted up in soil, but covered in snow, waiting for the eventual thaw & right opportunity for planting.

Still Snowing

Well, Mother Nature is sure having a grand time! It's still snowing & it just doesn't seem to feel like it will disappear any time soon.

Snow Day

Woke up this morning to snow... !!! ...

After last weekend's wonderful sunshine & warm temperatures, it feels like a bit of a set back into our spring with this blanket of white.
